Fashion's Big Crush on New York Sports
Three beloved fashion brands score big with must-have team merch.
Step aside, designer collabs. Right now, the hottest partnership a brand can land is with a sports team.
Is team pride the new statement style? You be the judge.
New York or Nowhere for the New York Knicks
Fan-favorite NYC-based brand, New York or Nowhere, has teamed up with the New York Knicks for a co-branded collection sure to win over fans of the team—and the city. The collection features hooded sweatshirts, scarves, tees, and even baby onesies adorned with the New York Knicks’ signature brand colors.
Shop the collection online, in-store, and at Madison Square Garden.
tip: Move fast. NYONW merch tends to fly off the shelves.
Polo Ralph Lauren for The New York Yankees
Bronx Bombers fans are about to get a little prep in their step. Earlier this month, Polo Ralph Lauren launched the MLB Collection, a drop of cozy sweaters, jackets, crewnecks, quarter zips, and other classic apparel items designed in collaboration with the iconic New York team.
It’s not the first time designer Ralph Lauren—who was born in the Bronx—has honored the team with a custom collection. Lauren launched a Yankees collection back in 2018 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Ralph Lauren brand.
Pieces from the collection will drop on a rolling basis and will be available for purchase on both brands’ online stores.
Mixed Prints tip: Some of the MLB collection pieces are more than the average US mortgage payment. Stick to categories like polos and hats for merch that won’t break the bank.
Off-White™ for New York Liberty
Last month, under the creative direction of Ib Kamara, fashion brand Off-White™ inked a multi-year deal with New York Liberty as the WNBA team’s official Style and Culture Curator. The collaboration marks the first-ever sports partnership for Off-White™, and launched with a custom varsity jacket featuring signature details that nod to both the brand and the team’s unique identities.
"Sitting at the intersection of style, sport, and culture in New York, the brands will… release unique fashion capsules each season, drive authentic community programming, and partner with Liberty players to celebrate Women’s History Month, Black History Month and Pride,” New York Liberty shared in a press release last month.
Keep up with the latest merch drops here.
Mixed Prints tip: The jackets were hard to come by, so fans need to stay on the pulse of this collaboration, and hit up the games during the season—we have a feeling merch will be easiest to snag at the Barclay’s Center.
What brands and teams would you like to see team up for a collection?
